After ten years or so of knitting and crocheting off-and-on, I’ve picked up the highly addictive habit of amigurumi. I became interested in amigurumi late last year (2008) and finally picked up the hook this January. I’ve spent a lot of time during the last few months digging around the Net looking for information about how to achieve the amigurumi look: tightly woven items with very defined stitches and a “cute” aesthetic.
My first attempts were somewhat of a disaster. Traditional crochet techniques do not yield the correct result. After much research and experimentation, I think I’ve gotten the amigurumi thing down to somewhat of a science. I’ve started this blog to share what I’ve learned and hopefully save someone else some time and frustration. Making amigurumi is really fun once you’ve learned a few tips and tricks!
