Baby Sputnik

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Here’s another gift I made recently, this time for a newborn. It’s a baby-safe toy that I designed with interesting protrusions and high-contrast colors. It’s made entirely from yarn and stuffing, so it’s safe for even the littlest ones.

Woof!

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

I just finished this little dog as a gift for a friend’s daughter. She’s in love with dogs of all kinds, so this one is a special mutt just for her. I used a space-dyed red yarn that I got last year from a Ravelry swap. I really like the way it came out. For [...]

Holiday Gifts: Nest Boxes

Friday, November 27th, 2009

I just finished these twin Nest Boxes for my twin sisters-in-law. They asked for peach flowers, so I designed around that color scheme. I like the juxtaposition between the soft flower colors and the high-contrast nest. Since the pattern is quick and easy to work up, I had these finished in time to give them [...]

Branching is an easy and useful technique. There are two ways to create a branching effect: add a branch to the current round by crocheting in the back [...]

Free Pattern: Pumpkin

So it may not be “officially” autumn for another week or so, but I for one can’t wait! I’ve heard people say that we don’t have seasons in California, but we do. They are more subtle, but are every bit as enjoyable as anywhere else. To celebrate the changing season, I’d like to share a [...]

Cupcakes!

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

I’ve been using one of my amigurumi designs as an avatar around Etsy, Ravelry and Twitter for months now, but I’ve finally gotten around to making some for my store! There are three new arrivals, each with a happy smile and cherry on top. The cupcake measures in at just over 3 inches tall from [...]

New! Silicone Thimbles Available on Etsy

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

At last! My personal search to avoid evil callouses and rubbed, raw skin is finally over. Now I want to share the love! I just listed these on my Etsy shop today, and have already sold 2 sets. The index finger on my non-hook hand had been rubbed raw by my (beloved) aluminum hook until [...]
